Curtain raiser on Vajrotsavam

While you set your priorities right and make your new year resolutions, I wish all of you a fantastic 2007. Thank you so much each of you for visiting my blog and yes for the feedback as well. Let’s begin this new year on a positive note and wish Telugu cinema a bright future.

Just when we were wondering what happened to the Khatarnak unit, Uttej has been pushed to the forefront. Why is Ravi Teja not talking about the film and where is Ileana? She might have realised how she was fooled by the unit and next time she will be very careful and choose her own clothes. I’m sure she would love to trash her film into the dustbin especially if she gets to see some of her scenes in a dance sequence. Well coming to the film, Uttej who banks on the special appearances in films of all heroes says he is thankful for getting a wonderful role in the film. I don’t even remember what role he played or for that matter did he act in the film? He announces if you watch Khatarnak you are eligible for a lucky draw and then if you happen to be lucky, you will win a colour TV set and a DVD player. I’m ready to let go my DVD player and colour TV, if anyone watches Khatarnak, any takers?Â
NTR kills 49 of those who commited atrocities on women. The actor says, “None of the people have reacted violently to those scenes because everyone has identified with the problem. I’ve seen my mother go through a lot, maybe she didn’t suffer like the rest of the women but somewhere there is this hurt, the streak is evident.”
I asked him why he didn’t throw petrol and burn the ones who caused hurt to him and his mother and he replies, “I would have, If I had the channel, maybe yes I showed all the frustration in Rakhi. I have invested all my energy on the petrol bunk.” The actor spoke at length on various issues and adds how he considers AP a village. “We are all a bunch of illiterate people and we will continue to remain so as long as our minds and our thinking doesn’t change.”

NTR says, “I always miss having a sibling. If I had a sister I would never give dowry. Every dialogue and every word in Rakhi has a meaning and they should get inspired by what Rakhi said (not NTR). Oka Draupadi kongu lagaadani Mahabharatam lo 18 lakshalamandhini pitchi kukkalni champinattu champadu. Why can’t we learn from that epic? Men should respect women. Look what my mum did to me, she gave me a wonderful upbringing single handedly for 23 years. We have to fend for ourselves now. If you remember in the climax, Rakhi says don’t make me a hero (here Rakhi is symbolic of security). God has given us a life, we are blessed to be born as human beings. It’s upto us how we handle ourselves, we can’t keep banking on him always, we have to fight, we have to defend ourselves, be it from men or from rakshasa streelu like the mother-in-law and sister-in-law we showed in the film.”
Ask NTR what immediate response he saw to Rakhee..he says, “You must be aware of the road that goes in from Prashant Kuteer to Karvy, HSBC, etc. Many girls pass through everytime every day. An assistant director called me and told me that he saw a man telling someone voddhu ra baboi, vaalanu chooda maka Rakhee vocchi champesthadu. The film has succeeded in creating an awareness and that’s what we wanted ultimately. People have connected with it, related to it. Why are women holding hunger strikes..to be just led away by the police finally? Why are fathers dropping their daughters first before going to their office, isn’t it because of lack of security, the prevalence of fear?”
“What all the website reviews are crap. My only request to the audiences, film goers, movie buffs is not to get into these meaningless squabbles. We are getting into 2007, for heavens sake stop dividing yourselves on the basis of caste. I understand the love for a particular actor is given vent to in the form of such an expression but give them some time it will go, definitely not overnight but yes it will disappear. During Balakrishna’s peak period the feelings were too much but now it has been reduced to a considerable extent and by the time another generation takes over we won’t have all this. Yesterday I was sitting and talking to twenty people and I blasted all of them for speaking about caste.”
NTR has lost plenty of weight and he has changed his hairstyle (he has parted his hair at the centre) as well. Looking cool, very happy he is radiating positive attitude, energy. He tells me, “I’ve just recovered from a ligament tear and my weight, idhi eppudu undedhe, eppudunundo taggalani anukuntunna ippudu tagganu. Naa concentration antha ippudu Yamadonga meedhe undhi. We are shooting from 2nd January. Rakhee has become a part of my life but now it’s time to put my past behind and move ahead, think ahead and only concentrate on Yamadonga.”
NTR says, “The story is eight years old. Radhakrishna went through a personal struggle, he saw his sister go through a turmoil and that was when he had written this story Agni Paarani. Krishna Vamsi had changed it to Rakhee. Vamsi had this idea to do it a decade back itself and our thoughts co-incided. We all work for money but this time we wanted to make a meaningful cinema. Atla ani inka eppudu itlaanti cinemalu cheyyanu. Simhadri was a big hit but at the same time I wouldn’t write them off because of Rakhee. None can say NTR didn’t put in 100 percent for all his films. I would love it if people called me an actor or an artiste instead of a star.”
