It was Bhanumathi’s anniversary the other day and there was a lovely interview of her’s that was replayed by a TV channel. Talking of Bhanumati reminds me of an anecdote published by a popular vernacular weekly. Long back my cousin read out aloud how Bhanumati who hates being bossed, on the sets of a Kodi Ramakrishna’s film screamed, “Ae kodi aa koothalu aapu inka.” Apparently the director went overboard giving instructions.
Savitri’s vardhanti is approaching too and that propells me to talk about the great NTR. His habit of considering the set property as his own is legendary. I have been told as to how one day NTR instructed his aides to move the huge tray of fruits into his car after pack up from the sets. The fruits looked luscious and tempting and glistened attracting the actor and he couldn’t wait to reach home. He crunched the forbidden fruit only to realise that it was made of wax. Don’t ask what happened next.
