Well done Sangeeta

Saw Uyir (Manohara in Telugu), it was a well made film. Right from conceiving ideas to implementing it, director Samy had done a wonderful job in his debut venture. Sangeeta has given one of her best performances and the way she goes about planning and trying to seduce her brother-in-law is done a systematic fashion. Be it giving him a bath, buying a bike, tearing off his employment papers or cutting off the telephone wire while Sriram talks to Samvritha, it’s done in an innocent way.

Only one wishes the director could have maintained the innocence and suspense till the last. Though the story is about a starved woman there is absolutely no vulgarity. The scene where Sangeeta discards her saree and dresses up in a salwar and Sriram’s nonchalant reaction is very natural. The climax is truly different which goes against the title..Uyir (a lot of life).
