A flop heroine who’s been working without a hit for ages suddenly becomes a part of a biggest hit in the year. Everyone appreciates her performance but none give her a role in their films. It’s indeed damn frustrating. After seven long months a national awardee, a director offers her a role in fact the heroine’s role in the film. Next day the news is out in the media but she is miffed with them for not giving enough coverage to her. Ante you should be mentioning her credentials, give her the primary importance by adding that it is completely a woman oriented project etc. and the story revolves around her etc. and then mention the names of the actor, producer and the director. Last heard she threatened the director that she is walking out of the project. Good if she walks out, they’ll find another one. Didn’t Jyothika, Kamalini do the same thing to K. Raghavendra Rao? Finally Sneha had the cream.

News is that Bunny is leaving to Bangkok to celebrate his birthday on April 8th. Don’t bug bunny with bouquets, SMSs, interview requests and greeting cards. Hope media brothers are listening. Let the boy have a blast in Bangkok.

One sits with the folk and tells them that the support is needed from the media to make the event a prestigeous one becoz of the glory it will bring to the city. Other talks of giving the media the gifts kept ready for them as soon as the enter the PC organised by him and then screams press avasaram ledhu. One event is full of glamour and glitz and hardly any positive coverage and infact brought out the skeletons hidden from the megastar and the collection king’s cupboard. Other event is sans glamour but scores of film lovers, aam junta and a few passionate filmmakers make it a grand success. One event had food separate for film folks and press and even had people being humiliated while they came to eat and the other had filmmakers and press mingle and eat the same common food spread out to them.

Fighting for survival in this industry is definitely not a picnic especially for a small town girl with stars in her eyes. When you are new, most producers don’t want to pay you, or even if they pay it’s just a paltry sum. When you come from outside and you are alone then things are really bad. If you try a shortcut thru public relations like thru media, director, etc., they are no saints either. An ex-heroine was willing to go with a reporter for a cover page. It’s fame that makes us go around. Now the ex-heroine has gone to the telly and the reporter has lost his job. If you aren’t straight, God shows you the way!

A producer tells me that if a film is made in Rs. five crore then people like him should spend or invest one crore in marketing. To gain visibility first of all is a challenge and to make an impact is a far greater challenge. Very true. Krishna Vamsi and Ravi Teja were supposed to do a film long back and when they were ready Rakhee happened. Rakhee released on Dec 22 and Vamsi asked RT to wait for three months and the actor didn’t. Within the time he had, he wanted to make utmost use of it and he did. Now his film is ready and is releasing soon. Now that he is done, he came back to Vamsi who is has already made a commitment to work with C. Kalyan. Are egos at work here or is it a plain case of non availability of time or dates with both of them when one needed the other? Whatever it is it is ego that is the villain, that is hampering artistic pursuit.
