Sonu lashes out at journalist

Sonu NigamSonu Nigam is a well-known singer not just in Mumbai but in Hyderabad as well. I remember Balakrishna invited Nigam for his private New Year bash to entertain his guests before he moved into his new home years back. It comes as a shock to the singing community that Sonu has decided to come out in the open and speak about Subhash K. Jha a popular movie scribe in Mumbai. Sonu says that the journalist has been harrassing him for sexual favours in return for publicity. Questioning someone’s sexuality is not right but Nigam feels harbouring personal vendetta for not giving in and tarnishing one’s reputation for that reason is wrong.

Being gay is a fad in Mumbai (Mumai could soon be renamed Gay Pradesh) and the Hindi film industry has many stories to tell. We have seen many films of late portraying the lives of a gay, Metro, Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd., etc. Starlets being harassed or giving in by consent is common here, but looks like it is the turn of the man to bear the brunt. It is interesting that after Sonu’s outburst many actors and models are coming out with their experiences. One out of every actor in Mumbai is supposed to be a victim of male casting couch and most say it’s the model coordinators who act as agents. Sonu choosing to speak out might have just tumbled the can of worms but there is more to come in the coming days.

Smita Madhav is not going to act here after and Tamanna is one of the heroine’s in Shekar Kammula’s Happy Days.
