I’m fully clad in Mangatayaru Tiffin Centre: Mumait

She has come up the hard way and knows the value of money. Mumait Khan has made a place for herself in this industry in a very short time and the best part part about the lady is she minds her business and doesn’t interfere in others lives. Also she is very honest and takes no nonsense if she feels she is right. I had to speak to her on some issue for the news paper and in the course of the conversation asked her as to why she is revealing so much in the item numbers.

She retorted, “Nobody does that deliberately, it’s our job and I’m not wearing such costumes to create a sensation. There are many reasons for that, one we are asked to wear such clothes, next the costume designers here don’t know how to create good stuff. Naap teek tarah se nahin lete and once the dress is ready I can’t create a nuisance in the sets that this is bad, i’m not going to wear it.”

Oka saameta gurthukotchindi ulta chor kotwaal ko daante kaani immediately I had to change my opinion. She says, “By the way, why do you guys talk as if i’m the first one to don such costumes, I have seen the photographs of yester year actresses in a chaddi and bra, when it comes to me why this double standards?” Mumait tho pettukovoddhu, argument kellarante got to be ready with answers, she is no bimbo. For all of you who don’t know this, she is coming fully clad in Mangatayaru Tiffin Centre. That’s called confidence.

Krishna audio super duper hit

Nine am press meet ante the people ought to leave homes by 8.30 and some by 8am. There is so much disregard by the actors for the media. A press meet was convened at Prasad labs at 9am but it began at 10.30 am. Ravi Teja came at his own sweet time. The purpose of the meet was to inform the media that the audio of Krishna has been declared a superhit. The audio was released on friday, and today is monday. It took just two days and the cash registers have already started ringing.

I remember Rajashekar came late once and konthamandhi  journalists o tega retchipoyaaru, boycott adhi idhi annaru, they could raise their voice because it was a chinna cinema and a chinna hero. Today all the voices went mum, forget feeble. BTW, Ravi-Teja and Chekri combination eppudu hitee ani chekri seppings.

Palti-starrers

Bhutto successor evara ani channels surf chestunte Maa TV lo aaganu. Just then I saw some fans burning newspapers in Vijaywada showing their dissent against the biased reviews on Don.

As far as I know Nag is a cool person and an Ajatashatruvu. He doesn’t care for the reviews because he believes that it’s the people who make it run. Best example he cited once was Nenunnanu. The journalists have written it off and the film became a big hit. Anyways, fans are like that only….like we give biased reviews they like to show inflated collections. No one is hell bent on proving a film is a flop.

The producers, the artistes and others concerned should accept the verdict of the people, that way our rajakeeya nayakulu are far more humble. Also heard that Nagarjuna stated on the television that we are the ones asking him why multi-starrers don’t work in telugu cinema and when Lawrence does something like Don, we pass remarks this way. Ante Lawrence is a star?

At the Krishnarjuna audio release, he also said that this film might herald multistarrers. Sivaji kooda chaala inspire ayyi oka interview lo Nag ni metchukunnaru. BTW does he mean Vishnu is a star already? If two actors in a film ki samaanamaina role unte adhi multi-starrer avuddhi. Otherwise it’s a guest role. That way do we call SDZ a multi-starrer? Ee lekkana mana industry lo multi-starrers eppudo votchesaayi.

Morning Show Muchatlu - Navvule Navvulu

Ali, AVS, Kondavalasa, Krishna Bhagwan, MS Narayana, K Chidambaram, Sunil, Jayalalitha and company assure you from the posters that this film is a complete comedy. Navvule Navvulu does not come remotely close to it, infact it is tasteless, crude and maybe being stoned would make this movie an absolute laugh-riot. Prithvi plays the hero who is in love with a college student.

There is another man in love with the same girl and Prithvi picks up a fight with him while he teases her. The young man dies accidentally and Prithvi on the insistence of his girl friend agrees to dress up like a woman to protect himself from the police. He finds a shelter in a women’s hostel and attracts attention from all and sundry. How he helps others, steers himself clear from the accidental death forms the crux of the story.

Except for Kondavalasa who plays the suspecting husband, the rest of the characters are more horrible than funny. AVS plays a transvestite who keeps jutting in and out of every scene overdoing his bit, Prithvi in a woman’s attire is anything but decent, his desperation to come back to the commercial stream is evident here. Sunil is the police and Ali as the confused son wears a bemused look throughout.

Chalapati Rao’s work is artificial as the father who wants probe into his son’s death. The first half of the film is always looking out for an excuse to break into a song but post interval there is some trace of substance. Anju Asrani the leading girl is convincing. , This film is inspired by a novel ‘Kodekaru’ scripted by Bollimuntha Nageswara Rao and produced by Paleti Venu and V Sivaramakrishna Prasad. There is nothing in the film to make the viewer stop and think, except maybe for the thought popping into one’s head; “why am I watching this?”

Roja is Mahesh Babu fan

Monna Santosham awards function lo Roja said she came all the way to see Mahesh Babu because she’s a big fan. I clearly remember when I had been to interview her during Muta Mestri shooting, how she waxed eloquent on Chiru and said that he is/was/always be her favourite hero. That did fetch her Big Boss. This new found fascination for Mahesh might land her only a mother-in-law’s role that too if she works hard on herself.

Ninna cinema release ee roju success meet

Cinema utter flop, kaani rendo roju success meet. Only news papers and electronic channels were invited, no websites. Bangarukonda heroine Naveneet Kaur was clearly miffed, “you guys take my interview for 15 to 20 mts but air only three minutes. Very bad.” After her interview the shutterbugs took her into a room and went click click. She came out again and cribbed, ‘half an hour photos teesthaaru but only one photo vosthundi websites lo.”

She added, “Mku kaavalsindi ee cinemalo anni unnayi. Idhi chaala superhit avuthondi ani nenu eppudu anukoledhu. Phone chesi andharu reports chepthunnaru. Nenu chaala happyga unnanu. Meeru ee cinema rendu moodu saarlu choodali.”

Last evening Krishna audio release at Viceroy. About sixty journalists were invited but chinn chinna websites kooda votchesaaru The PR managers had a tough time filtering genuine journos from the rest as almost all of them gatecrashed at the mandhu section. One journo bit into a mutton piece and broke his tooth. He left the plate, sat in a  corner and was seen nursing his jaw. Hey Krishna!

Morning Show Muchatlu - Mee Sreyobhilashi

Mee Sreyobhilashi is a meaningful reflection of life. Rajendra Prasad dies towards the end in Aa Naluguru and brings a change in his family and in this film, he lives to change the society, to show a few people that life is precious and beautiful.

Though the drama begins on a morose note in a documentary style, the director surprises you with the dexterity with which he handles the script. The protagonist plays Prof Rajaji who has lost his wife and his teen aged daughter commits suicide.

He does not want this to happen to anyone else and pools in about ten people who have resolved to end their lives. He hires a bus and a drunken driver to embark on the journey to death. One loses track of time while you relate to the crestfallen faces and characters in the bus.

The dialogues aren’t hard hitting but they are simple, colloquial, well timed and make you laugh while the characters are in the face of adversity. They bring cheer and tears too. The best part about the film is Rajendra Prasad who takes on this mission with a spirited outlook and behaviour and even deals death with an air of nonchalance.

Raghu Babu, Krishna Bhagwan and Brahmanandam evoke humour in desolate and pointless situations, Naresh wows you as a producer who is in irreversible debt. Ali is funny and the old couple are believable. The remaining cast, the dog including do their job well. Music is good.

Many films depicting suicide attempts have been made, either they have been consigned to history or screened at film festivals but very few such as this have succeeded in passing on the same message with entertainment in the right tone and dose.

Technically speaking there is not much to carry home but one should watch the film for the message beautifully conveyed and expressed by Rajendra Prasad, a perfect blend of sentiment and humour handled by the director. Kudos to the producer for believing in a drama that is truly triumphant, poignant and timeless and of course the message, ‘kill the problem, not the life.’ Watch this film for the feel good final solution, a smiley face….

While an interesting climax was on at the screening of the friday release Mee Sreyobhilashi, the Brahmaramba theatre authorities were forced to wind up the film abruptly on account of PJR’s demise. The audiences were heard screaming and protesting but the people concerned did not relent. Many people were heard expressing their dissent.
