Idhi thaguna?

Purandareswari addressing the gathering at 16th TANA conferenceAfter reading my article on Purandareswari in The Hindu, a highly (read in capital letters) placed source came out with some details that not only throw light on how an association meant for the congregation of Telugus had faltered in PR but also utilised the opportunity to further personal interest.

My source says, “Some people who occupied the prime post in TANA and are going to for the next TANA invited Purandareswari and her husband Dr. Venkateswara Rao to the meet. After the invitation was accepted her picture was posted in the official website of TANA but later for unknown reasons removed. After reaching the US, the lady was kept in the dark about her programme. She was not given her itinerary. The people who hosted Purandareswari had to enquire when she could speak and for how many minutes and they voiced their dissent on the way things were moving. Only after that she was given a chance to speak as if they had done a big favour. All the organisers were too occupied in pleasing CBN (shortlisting the thirty names CBN reportedly asked them too for the future posts in the govt) and had little time for others, it was clear they didn’t want to displease him by allowing the lady to speak. It was a humiliation, we didn’t want to make it an issue there but if such meetings are going to be hosted in the future the organisors should be careful not to hurt their guests or they shouldn’t invite them at all. They should get their priorities right. I’m glad the political forum will not be a part of the meet next time and it will be held outside. That way they will make sure to treat people from all parties with dignity” .

  1. I am the chairman of the WEB Committee and the owner of the official website for the 16th TANA Conference and would like to categorically deny the accusation that the picture of Smt Daggupati Purandhareswari has been removed from the website. It has never been removed after it has been uploaded to the website in March, 2007.

Also, I strongly condemn many articles in your blog on the happenings of TANA as I believe they have been written without proper research.

    Naren

  2. Categorically deny, strongly condemn sare where is the proof? If you really think you are on the right get the lady to say that nothing of that sort happened. Stop giving statements like a politician and do something constructive.

  3. Assuming that it is the owner of the blog that has replied to me - I am even more upset at the tone of the response. My issue is only with the statement in your report that her photograph has been removed from the official website. I as the owner of the website indeed have the right to condemn and categorically deny that it has not happened - when it has been reported wrongly in the media. Her photgraph exists in the website even today http://www.tana2007.org long after the event has concluded.

As the owner of the blog, If you are hurt by my statement - after spending a lot of time and being constructive and potraying the lady in good light and bringing an issue you thought was wrong to light - it is completely understandable.

However - I have spend one year in preparing the website and cannot keep quiet when your blog reports something that di not occur.

    Thanks again,
