Tribute or insult?

Amitabh BachchanAt Lakshmikala theatre, Moosapet the audiences hurled abuses at Ramgopal Verma for dishing out a film that not only is a insult to Sholay but also for the delay in release of prints. The morning shows were cancelled in many theatres this morning. I thankfully saw Raghavan and going by the reports my sincere condolences for those who have immolated themselves in RGV Ki Aag.

One wonders why RGV’s films and sequels and remakes are stuffed with promising plot lines, curvaceous bodies, bionic new villains, great stunts and dazzling effects. But it is starved of a single ounce of drama. Why does the Factory fail so many times and the workers never learn their lessons? This Aag is for sure a daag on RGV’s resume.

Apology to a friend: I’m sorry for forcing you to watch this film, inflicting so much pain and all I can do is to request Ramgopal Verma to go on a long holiday to do some soul-seraching.

  1. since it is an often tried and failed patteren for RGVarma no body can offer new comments on his latest boxoffice doom. But the film in the question is Sholay a number of people felt offended, insulted and they statrted to think Varma humiliated the audience and it is almost near torture both the senses and the persona.whatever the succes he achived in the Telugu films with Siva and moderate hit like KshanamKshanam,he remade Siva with an blank faced couple mohit and nisha,KshanamKshanam repeated in Doud,he made Antham with 70 or so murders in detail, releaesed as Drohi but in vain, later he remade it as Satya with a moderation plus ManojBajpai, and i lost the count where he succeded except the Rangeela and satya and his factory churning out film reels like an rolling mission Varma why dont you go for an refresher course in film making and try to watch others movies leave your own master pieces for thefuture generations start with Mayabazar,Seven samurai, and Sholay again read them as text books i hope still there is a director in you Varma please give him room we need that one not the RGVarma th owner of the Factory

  2. I watched the movie in Mumbai today. It’s very good. I give it 4/5. I watched the original Sholay a year back for the first time. I didn’t like it because it was too formulaic and too slow for the present generation. RGV’s Aag is an excellent adaptation. Kudos!!

Few months ago, I watched Vettaiyadu Vilaiyadu (Raghavan in Telugu). It’s a psycho thriller with not much substance in it. Goutham disappoints, Kamal Haasan is wasted for the role. The only good thing about the movie is the music. I give it 2/5.
