Kantri is an engaging and an entertaining film. It has the usual good versus evil storyline and has more than two gangs fighting for one-upmanship. NTR grows up in an orphanage and gets involved in gang war. It is later revealed that his boss Prakash Raj is actually his father. He joins his father in strengthening his business and at the same time succeeds in antagonizing the other rival group. The love-hate relationship between the father and son lead to more inventive conceits and stalking adversaries.
What makes the sprawling drama different is that it is sturdy and well-crafted by Meher Ramesh, the dances and action rousing and cleverly choreographed and all ingredients family feud, shoot outs, twists and turns in the right doses helps the film succeed on virtually every level. There are some loopholes too, not all the dialogues are razor sharp, and romance is low key.
Comedy fizzles out and romance appears for namesake. The film is brought to life by a smart ensemble of actors mostly who play a negative role and Prakash Raj with a smart look is a clear stand out. The ladies, Hansika and Tanisha chip in warm performance. The story begins from how Prakash Raj abandons his wife and son and leaves to Hong Kong to become a Don. The director establishes its characters and situations one by one, gradually picking up speed and mass and by the time the credits roll, we’ve had a whirlwind tour of virtually everything you can do in this genre.
NTR has a natural ease with the audience that it is hard not to care for him. His dances add beauty to somewhat average music and some tongue in cheek, pompous dialogues are tailor-made to suit his character. There is no excessive melodrama and nothing is overweight. There is a resemblance to a scene in Pokiri where the suspense is revealed stripping the script of it’s freshness, but overall it’s mass, masala and a complete paisa vasool.….

Just came back from Los Angeles show….Here is my view on movie….
Location : Naz Cinema , Artesia, Los Angeles
Date/Time: Friday May 9, 10:00 PM
Crowd: 450-500.Theatre was full and some were sitting on additional tables. Families and few kids were also there.
The Good:
The movie goes smoothly and you dont feel bored for a minute.
Unlike what i read in other blogs/reviews, comedy is decent. Sunil’s and raghuBabu’s comedy is clean,with out vulgarity and enjoyable.
Tarak looks amazing in second half, especially in Rama Rama and I go Crazy songs. The kuchupudi bit is small but it shows glimpse of what is in future for us.
No political dialogues like discussed in media, except the one on Cycle. This is good for tarak as he will not loose other heroes fans.
The Bad:
There is not standout scene that uses the acting ability of Tarak (Like the scenes in Aadi and Simhadri)
Heroine’s role and Romance thread between Hero/Heroine is not well developed.
The Ugly:
Nothing, except that Marugujju guy popping out in some scenes. I dont know why director added that guy. No dialogue or nothing just adds to wierdness.
SNIPPETS:
I went inside the theatre 20 minutes before movie started. They were playing NTR(legend)’s 1970,80′s hit songs from Kondaveeti Simham, Vetagadu. Crowd were enjoying and shouting for those songs..
Loud cheer when NTR’s photo shows up on Vijayanthi Banner Logo.
There was minor fight between Chiru and nandamuri fan after the movie. I did not hear what happened, but it passed with out major incident.

The director included that scene because it is a dishti chukka for the film. Ikkada itlaanti haters edustaarani telisi akkada vaadini pettaaru.
