Bitter-sweet story

You must have read the news, this 45 day old baby Sarita was rushed to the Niloufer hospital on 8th after her father Govind slit her throat and left cheek. She was taken to the Emergency and after the treatment, the baby survived. I went to the hospital this afternoon, I was late and I couldn’t see the baby or the mother. Sarita passed away yesterday at 7.45. She was shifted to the Osmania General Hospital as it was a medico-legal case. Govind is in Manchal Police Station in Cyberabad. This man Govind is a lorry driver and lives in a thanda at Ibrahimpatnam. He’s a lambadi. He came home drunk on that fateful day and demanded money from his wife. When she refused he indulged in this dastardly act. He was also apparently upset that the child born was a female.

Some good things happen too in this place. A young girl an orphan who grew up in the village was married off recently with the help of these lambadas. They all hunted for a suitable boy, pooled in money and celebrated her wedding in the thanda. They have even gifted her a house.
