Brahmi’s favourite roles

Brahmanandam says he doesn’t like loud dialogues. He prefers something dull, little scary where he folds hands like the one he recently played in Krishna. Talking to TCP the comedian says , “I liked a few episodes like the one in Krishna that goes emaine whistle kavalante konukovocchukadhandi….. I liked the get ups of Sachin Tendulkar and Abdul Kalam Azad too. Ready lo naadi manchi paatra. Intlo Illalu Vantintlo Priyuralu is one more. Through out the film the tone is comic and in the end it becomes serious. I have been given a Nandi for the role in Anna which is also memorable.”

  1. brahmi is one of the few talented comedians we have.
telugu cine field lo malli ilanti comedian dorakadu manaki.

  2. Brahmi - The Legend………

  3. He is highly over-rated. Agreed he acted well in a few movies(like kshna-kshanam, kshemanga, money, Dhee) but most of the time he over-acts and shouts like anything. he re-cycles most of his acts too. his comedy is never subtle and that is a fact.

He is not as versatile as kota or nutan prasad.

  4. @rangeen,

Kota and nutan prasad are different..they are more famous as villains than comedians, ofcourse they did some good funny roles and comedy villain roles, but as a full fledged comedian Brahmi scores more marks than these guys..
agree that he over acts, but still people like him more when compared to other comedians of his age/era. movies like Aha naa pellanta, yamaleela, anaganaga oka roju etc are memorable, and even new films like athadu has some very funny roles/dialogs by brahmi.

  5. Chandu,

Fair enough. I like all the movies you mentioned above but there are so many instances where I had to mute my TV when starts acting/shouting.

I think say one of the reasons why he
a)survived so long and b)was liked more than others was that he had literally no competetion. No one of substantial comic calibre was available in the telugu market during his reign. Sadly, that is still the case.

Speaking of comedians and character actors, it is only going to get worse from here on as we do not have any platform to produce these actors. No one plays dramas anymore, no theatre concept. It will hurt the movie industry at some point.

To me character actor and the comedians are as important as the lead characters. We just don’t see any of them on the horizon. We see a lot of heroes but no one is grooming the others. Well, i have really taken our discussion in a different direction, but thanks for listening.

  6. Bemmi ROCKS!
