Climax maarchamani unit godava, okay annanu: Rajendra Prasad
The phone hasn’t stopped ringing, SMSs are flooding his mobile phone, visitors are streaming in at his residence. Rajendra Prasad is back again with his profound work after Aa Naluguru and Bhagyalakshmi Bumper Draw. The beaming actor says, “ A film dealing with suicidal attempts isn’t supposed to have a feel good ending but that’s how Nee Sreyobhilashi works. It’s sentimental but sincere. I have tasted the blood of good cinema, i.e Aa Naluguru. I won’t settle for anything less. Also I realise that I have a responsibility, I’m a matured actor and have stepped into this transitional phase at the right time.â€
The actor adds that these days the purpose of cinema has become more promotional than entertaining. “A good cinema will always work, if a film is made with too many commercial elements might not click at the box office if it’s not good enough. A person should be able to remember the story and the characters long after.â€
Rajendra Prasad says after Aa Naluguru he didn’t get a good subject and so has delayed plunging into the next film. However he has achieved what he had set out to do. His one liners in the Eswar Reddy directed Mee Sreyobhilashi with a sufficient core of sanitized reality has made it worth discussing beyond the usual acting, music, humour and star power rating.
“I’m in a state of freedom to choose my subjects without any pressure. I loved Raghuram, Prof Rajaji and that is the only reason why I chose to do those films, it’s not that I’m here to change the society or pass any message. My films are purely commercial, kindly don’t push them into the art film genre. Rajendra Prasad is here to entertain as long as he survives. I will strive to give something fresh†adds the actor.
This film teaches us to take life in a positive way. Mankind is frustrated with the daily events that take place. No one would love to listen to the same old jokes. The greatness of the film is making people laugh and embrace death with a smile and eventually the honesty in his work has surfaced opines Rajendra Prasad.
Ask his favourite dialogue in this movie and he says, “yes, there is one it goes…life is a dead end street where you know you’ve got to stop there but you will still run for it. Isn’t it nice?†Have you ever madea suicide attempt, “yes, once but don’t ask me why and when. I also believe that everyone does. If not every person reaches a breaking point, a level of frustration where they would like to put an end to this life. That is definitely a suicidal tendency.
The important thing here is when you are passing through such moments and if someone stops you and tells you to postpone your decision for a few minutes, you will realize later on how sensible you’ve been. A better sense will prevail upon you, history and psychology has proved that time and again.†Finally was it necessary to bring back Prof Rajaji to life again in the film? “Actually I wanted Rajaji’s life to end that way, the film was originally supposed to finish with the helicopter bringing Prof Rajaji who was hanging on the branch, to the shocked and grieving travellers. But that unit was against it, they wanted a positive ending to a positive film.â€
