Genelia aims for the top with Sashirekha Parinayam

genelia sashirekha parinayam telugu movie

We must have seen Genelia as the bubbly girl with the infectiously lively attitude and always on the feet kind of roles atleast half a dozen times but the audience is not tired and so is the actress. Genelia is packing her bags, she is leaving for her shoot in South Africa and amidst her hectic schedule chats with Metro Plus about her upcoming release Sashirekha Parinayam.

Sashirekha’s story is a journey through a women’s heart and each woman will identify with it. Everyday we think twice before doing something but Sashirekha is different, she speaks what she wants to, there is no diplomacy in her banter, she is free spirited, independent and above all questions the practice of dowry and runs away from home when she finds a price tag being attached to her.

Bommarillu, Jaane Tu Ya jaane Na, Dee, Ready and now Sashireka Parinayam. Has it been a conscious decision to choose these clichéd roles or was she falling in the trap of stereotyped characters? The actress replies, “One needs to have a blend of song, dance and well etched characters in a movie and I must say I am lucky to have both. I am not just running around trees. In an industry that is hero dominated I have within a short time made a mark and all the credit goes to my directors who have believed in my work. Also my physique could have helped.” She adds  that all this has been accomplished without any shedding of clothes or over dramatization of her roles.

Krishna Vamsi after Raghavendra Rao is known to give his heroines a glamorous look, how was it to work with him? Genelia says he is walking talking encyclopedia and got to learn a lot about film making from him, also she affirms that there she didn’t put any extra pan cake for the film. The genre has been rehashed, visited and re-visited again and again so much so that all love stories look, seem and sound alike, but Sashirekha Parinyam will take a fresh look at this love story, there is more soul than looks.

Telugu, tamil, kannada, hindi ..obviously Genelia must be on a new high. No she quips. “it does make me happy, the small compliments especially, they make a huge difference.  Her biggest is asset is being accepted by all kinds of audiences. She feels happy and reveals that most of her audiences for Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na in Andhra were mostly telugu audiences. Hindi films have reasonable collections but for my movie it’s my telugu folks who made it happen.

“The other day in a flight one man came up to me and said he feels proud to take his daughter to my films and man I was floored.  I am thankful to my parents for keeping me grounded, whatever you are from inside reflects and the camera catches it. You can’t pretend or fake any emotion,” Genelia adds . The actress is game for even a five minute role if it has a meaning and says Sashirekha Parinayam is surely going to be another feather in her cap…
