Morning Show Muchatlu - Jalsa
The summer movie season has begun with deafening hype. Jalsa would not have generated so much interest but for Chiranjeevi’s over publicized political entry and Trivikram Srinivas’s over-rated credentials. Sadly by the end of the show it’s still the two tunes that remain etched in the memory with nothing left to celebrate upon. Jalsa is a culmination of messy structure of sub plots and screenplay. An uninspiring script, a confused director and over action by the protagonist makes it a disjointed affair without a heart.
Though the opening one hour is sporadically amusing like the hero getting involved with both the heroines (siblings), it is ultimately replaced by tedium. The hero falls in love with Kamalini but gives up tamely just because her father (Prakash Raj) thinks he is not rich enough and the hero thinks he is not a salesman to convince him or guarantee that his daughter would be happy with him. Post interval is a jumble of poorly executed ideas.
Before Trivikram Srinivas embarks on his next project he should revisit his previous film making excursion and Pawan kalyan despite retaining his dignity in a handful of scenes should rethink on the subject he wants to work on, this is not the career trajectory that he should want to have. Mahesh Babu’s intermittent commentary is like a bunch of fresh flowers in stale water. Brahmanandam proves the movie with all-too-brief instances of entertainment.
Ileana plays a dumb babe, Prakash Raj looks jaded and behaves like a joker and one wonders what Parvati Melton, Sunil and Sivaji were trying to prove. The choreographer seemed to have gone on a holiday and the fight master fills in his job. A big let down in the film is the fight scene where Ali is injured and rushed to the hospital after Kalyan’s ‘strong’ retort.
The revelation that he was a naxalite and what prompted him to become one fails to evoke sympathy. On the other hand he is shown as a compulsive boozard, in this melee neither are you amused with his antics or upset with his history and the character development goes haywire. With a confusing premise and an unfathomable, abrupt conclusion…the lengthy Jalsa has nothing to offer curious movie lovers, this one is purely for the starved and enthusiastic fans and unemployed politicians …

Haven’t seen the movie yet. But, ur review portrays very bad impression on the movie. But, the case is different everywhere else. Its okay to point out the negative aspects. But, in the same way, don’t you feel responsible about pointing out the positive side of it?

i saw the movie. i think sunita doesn’t know how to judgea film and i feel that she should stop righting reviews or her opinions.
Shame on her that she writes such reviews to mislead and get a negative publicity.
This same famlae wrote a psoitive review on a film which released early this year which went out of the theatres in a couple of weeks. i really dont know, how she looks at a film.

Conclusion: All in all, Trivikarm’s Jalsa is no great shakes. Strictly for Pawan Kalyan’s hardcore fans.
So, Sunita meedha padi dhaadi cheyakunda, hardcore fans enjoy cheyandi.
I didn’t feel that the movie was so bad.
May be I should watch this movie to find out if it is really bad

Jalsa is a big looser. Very boring. Trivikram could not handle it properly. It is not even on the standards of pawan’s previous flops. i never expected such kind of dud from PK and Triviram combo. The effect is already on collections. The initial euphoria and hype created has already evaporated with morning show.
I have seen the movie in dallas hollywood theater on 1st day 9:30 show. Movie is not upto the expectation but its an OK(average) film.after kushi PAVAN best movie…first half is good but second half of laks the punch…songs picturization is not upto the mark. Over all its an OK movie..it may stand as hit becoz there is no other movie atleast for month….Main draw back of movie we can’t see Trivikram direction in movie its out and out PAVAN direction..becoz of this movie is average otherwise it would be another blockbuster for PAVAN.Pavan change this behaviour…I could rate this movie in between 2.75 to 3.00 due to some entertainment by bhrammi and co…

The movie is below average . For any movie there is something called screen play which gives direction to the movie. The screenplay in this movie is second rate and you feel lost in the middle trying to attach broken threads.
The music was a treat to hear , check out the picturisation one of the worst in this year. PK should atleast try to shake his legs. We all know why Chiru was such a hit . Its only becasue of his dancing skills, where he attracted children and youth. I was expecting a lot from the title song, watch it you will feel disgusted . Why did I waste $13 for this crap.

You probably expected a bit more out of the film and were disappointed. I sense frustration in your writing. But I feel as a writer for the much revered Hindu newspaper, you have discredited yourself as a reviewer. Do not speak from your personal bias, whether you felt it was bad or not, we don’t care (to put it bluntly). Tell the public more about why you thought the movie was bad. The screenplay was missing these elements, the story did not have depth, etc. I know I might sound like I’m asking you to be diplomatic but I’m not. I don’t mind if you mix your personal opinion of the film along with the technical aspects of the film. I am sorry, but you have not met any high standards set by the rest of the Hindu newspaper. As an employee of Hindu, we (I) expect at least the reviewer to cover the basic aspects of the a review, and you have done nothing.

I already heard the feedback from many people and most of them said the first half is excellent and second half is bit down but the last 1hour is good. Scenes involving Pawan and Ileyana are good. Brilliantly portrayed the senior simply roars onto the screen and dominates the central segment of the movie leaving the junior with some duets
the music is delightful and infectious and dialogues pack substance and lend credibility to the part pre-independence drama.
The camerawork is beautifully integrated and the angles used in the songs/setups are wonderful at sucking the audience into the scenes

There ends the story. I had to break my head with Pathetic movies from there. I still consider Jhonny ,Gudumba Shankar to be the worst of the lot. No improvisation, same routine acting , same jumpings . It becomes irritating after sometime. I lost my patience when he tried to do comedy in Gudumba S. Only change in Jalsa is he atleast looks better than his previous movies, but you dont watch a movie for hero looking good.

Any movie with out proper screeplay will be a dud. So is the case with Jalsa. Already collections are falling with rapid speed. No crowds in many centres from second day onwards. I saw the premiere show in Chicago.
The movie is good. Just good. Nothing more or nothing less than that. After you come out of the theatre, you will not feel that the movie is any extra ordinary and doesnot match to the standards of pavan kalyan. The film is lacking punch. nowadays not many movies are coming with a strong story line. If anyone sees the movie, the feeling would be… yeahhhh… the movie is good..
ask them if it would be a hit….the answer would be “there is no good movie at this time…. so it might be a hit”.
We know how his movies have been in the past. Lets take Kushi…if anyone sees that movie … they would immediately say that it is a Super Hit movie. It had all the ingredients.
Everyone has commented Sunita for her review. Can everyone hold on for another 2-3 weeks and come back and read the review again and compare the stats/talk whatever…. I am sure 80% of her review would be right. Sunita if you can post a new article after 3 weeks… lets see how it might look. I might be wrong too. So lets see then.
I would not say that movie is not good. but lets take PK’s dance. there are no super steps here in this movie. and the heroines….you will get bored to watch their faces with same expressions. either too much makeup or too much of expressions.
For me, the movie is simple. PK is back to 80% of his previous best. Comedy was good. Some scenes have been extraordinary. The timing was perfect.
Looks like it has become a fashion to include a background/childhood story for every movie. The Naxalite issue and the story donot really match much. there is no connection at all if you really analyze. it would be like 2 diff tracks but with the same hero and in the same movie.
some scenes are for the fans. the songs could have been picturised better for sure. instead of guns and bombs, it could have been a better background. The title song which comes in the end…i expected a lot for the music it had in it. awesome song it was.
the love scene between pavan/Ileana…it doesnot match with the narration of Mahesh Babu. Mahesh narrates as if PK is in love with one or the other. but it happens the other way. he keeps waiting and waiting… all of a sudden kisses. Common.. could have been better i guess.
Pavan/Prakash raj scenes were ultimate. the two of them did great scenes. same with pavan/brahmi. these were the combinations which had timing.
Okamagadu was a dud…Yamadonga also lacks that punch. but it was a hit since there was no over acting. it was just a casual movie. But it was not a super hit.
If one has to talk about superhits… Take Tagore, Indra, Kushi, Narasimhanaidu, Aadi, Pokiri. Not all movies need to have superb stories to become superhits.
I am not here to argue with anyone or get into caste politics. Not everyone can be satisfied with reviews. So the comments are divided.
i think some reviews earlier by sunita were wrong. may be biased.
but if you see the articles overall month by month…i get a feeling that she is trying to get in topics which invloves one actor/family at a time. either good or bad. it is her blog guys. why take personally?
people just want to comment for sake of commenting. Comparisons, Caste politics. WTF? Everyone has their own charisma. let them have their life.
Balayya shot someone. he is all happy now. PK is living with Renu. he is also happy. same with others. why is everyone so much worried about them. be clean guys. why hurt yourself or degrade yourself. because no one can see who is writing, everyone posts their hatred in blogs, fans websites etc etc. Shame on us.
Why involve politics for everything.caste politics come into play for most articles anywhere on the web. Some words would be so simple if you dont involve politics…but at the same time if you want to derive some stupid equation out of simple words, it is no big super science i guess. no one can change those kind of people.
finally…watch movie as a movie guys. read reviews…if you dont believe reviews, then go watch the movie.. come back and write back. no need to compare, fight on caste, talk about the writer.
lets wait and see if this becomes a SUPER HIT. it will be a hit for sure but not SUPER HIT as per the hype created. It is a casual movie. thats all.

Art is sensual in nature and people will appreciate it no matter what the caste or race of artist. I like Hollywood movies/telugu Movies/Asian movies/French/Italian and Chiranjeevi Movies/Bala Krishna Movies as long as it is entertaining.

In one of your earlier posts you mentioned a few things about your blog and also said that this is your personal space and you have the right to have your own opinions. I completely agree. As a personal choice you might like some heroes and not the others.
But the above piece is not just a blog entry. Isn’t that a published review of movie in a reputed newspaper, which was meant to be read by moviegoers before deciding on whether to watch the movie or not?? In that case, I am completely convinced that you are biased. Your review not only speaks about your opinions on the movie but clearly extends to your personal opinions, likes/dislikes (for whatever reason) for an individual.
I am sure you know very well what people (fans/haters) like to see in a review for a movie like Jalsa. Story, screenplay aside they would like to know how Pawan kalyan performed in the movie. You simply restricted his role to less than 2 lines in your entire review and that is unfair.
I hate balayya (his acting, not him) and I find it funny that some people do like/love him. But, if I were to write a review for his movie for a newspaper, I would make it a point to honestly put down my thoughts on the movie as well as an account of his performance.
