TANA gen body meet on oct 4th
A writ has been filed by Tana members Madala Ravi, Alapati Ravindra, Vadlamudi Rammohan Rao, Lakkamsani Ramkrishna seeking details of the accounts of the Association. Around 3 to 4 million dollars have been spent so far and 6 to 8 thousand members have joined. The body is asking for ID cards and licences which were not sought earlier and the new members are not able to come up with it immediately for various reasons. Prabhakar Chowdary was removed by the executive committee and the President has called for a general body meeting at Atlanta at the Hindu Temple on October 4th.
Meanwhile the other group led by Komati Jayram (who is seeking ticket in the NRI category?) is involving members like Raghavendra Rao, Aswini Dutt, Sujana Chowdary and Murali Mohan in the mediatory talks which is not favoured by one group. Even NBK is said to have called twice. They feel the association matters are to be confined to the members residing in US alone. They want members like Vemana Satish to come out with the details of the money spent during CBN visit during last Tana.

Thank god that I didn’t pay any membership fee to TANA or any other group. If I were to pay, I would definitely expect to be given an account of how money was spent and why it was spent in the first place to welcome stupid ex-CM of AP. How does he and how can he help them in any manner.

Garikapati Mohan rao is a telugu desam leader and he lives in india and he never
lived in USA, since his daughter stays in USA
he comes to USA as any other parent..he is nothing to do with TANA.
He is the co-ordinator of NRI telugu desam party. More over it seems Komati Jayaram
is not seeking any ticket in the coming elections.
He comes from political family, his father Komati Bhaskar Rao (ex MLA) and his brothe

Why there is no link to sakshi news papaer on tana website? They have links to all the telugu news papaer..Also do we have any tana president from telangana?? They need to improve their image by serving real ppl. Also they should pay attention to the ppl in USA than in India. They should accept positive criticism and rectify mistakes…

Harsh, I am appalled with the report.I am also surprised that in a day and age like this some one pays $13,000 for prayers and sand sample!!
How come that guy is still out side instead of jail?
Any way there are strong rumors that TANA money was stolen and mis used. I won’t be surprised if it is true given the names of the people involved.
It was known fact that Jayaram sought Congress ticket in the last election and when he did not get(Thanks to Sonia)switched to TDP.There was no internal audit for TANA accounts and as such millions of $$ are being stolen.If TANA doesn’t respond for the request of accounts there is no other choice but to go to court to get them.As per IRS rules on non profit organization they must give the accounts within specified time.Stone walling doesn’t work here. It may even become criminal case.

When u want to strive for unity of Telugus, you should mix all regions/ppl. Ask anyone they will openly tell what these organizations do for?
The organizations are becoming like political parties/caste/region based. There are still lot of ppl like us who want a true organization that helps ppl here and protect our culture and values.
BTW i am not from Telangana and i am not a member of TANA or ATA or whatever xxA. Ask any avg Telugu guy what they feel abt all these.
USA is still a great country is because no matter whatever differences they have, ppl are trying to make it better and learning from mistakes and admit then. We need to learn lot from these ppl. We are destroying our culture by silly fights/castism….Just my thought…I know it hurt few ppl. This is the fact…wake up before anyone points at you…

One more interesting thing! Any citizen can ask for accounts of Non-profit Organization. You don’t have to be a member! But you have to pay the cost of copying and mailing etc..

Such a sad state of affairs….I attended many TANA conventions of the past (from the 80’s onwards), organized a large TANA with many of the past and present TANA executive leadership, organized youth TANAs (I am born and raised in the US), and now I have been married for over 15 years with 2 kids. I have many fond memories of late nights being at the computer, typing programs, on the phone with local Indian stores begging for advertisements, and talking with my friends and socializing with childhood friends from all across the country at TANA conventions. I also have memories of squabbles about caste, priorities, conference venues, etc., most of it pretty minor. Things now, however, have gotten WAY out of control.
I am ashamed to say that, I have never seen such a bunch of immature, prejudiced, caste-minded bullies in my life. Lawyers? Lawsuits? Removing the president? Is it me, or is this whole entire drama ludicrous? What have people resorted to here? They are trampling on their friendships, their families, their associates…all for what? TANA is supposed to be an organization that is non-profit, for Telugu people, by Telugu people, about Telugu people and their culture. Whatever happened to mediation, arbitration, and resolving things slowly and amicably? Why are you all behaving like a bunch of school bullies?
My only questions to both sides of this ridiculous drama are: What are you hiding, what are you afraid of, and how long do you think you can go on before all the truth comes tumbling out? Do you all realize that, because of your actions, TANA has now gained a reputation of being a corrupt, political, casteist, selfish, and overall crappy organization run by a bunch of selfish caste-minded boobs? Is that really how you want to be known?? Ask yourselves this: is all this fighting and political manuevering really worth it??
A very wise Telugu man from Chicago told me this once: “Perform actions in your life, as you would want them to be written about you in your obituary.”
Is this how you want to be known, and remembered? What about your children, and your friends? How do they feel about your shenanigans? How do you sleep at night knowing that some of you have actually doctored membership rolls, and have not been honest with your fellow board members, as well as TANA membership? All for what? Some misguided political gain? What do you plan on doing with that, run for office? Yeah RIGHT!
Believe me when I say, Telugu people don’t forget anything. I am sure all of you can relate to that. Our folks have memories like hawks!! :-)) They will remember everything and every action you have done, and those actions will follow you and your families forever. Think about THAT the next time you have a conversation with your fellow TANA brethren, plotting your next plans of attack.
My advice: save TANA’s reputation. Stop all this foolishness. Appoint some independent mediators from the TANA membership, or even outside the Telugu community if you ask me. Get everyone in a room, and sort this whole bloody mess out. I personally think ALL of you all need to resign and get the hellouta there. Reorganize the TANA leadership and make the next set of leaders work for the greater good of the Telugu membership, not have self-promoting shameless agendas.
Otherwise, there will be a mass exodus of folks like me from the TANA membership rolls, and then who are you going to pass your messed-up organization to then??

You’re in the US. The taxes that the organization is exempt from are US taxes, as such the organization cannot support any political party of the US. Former heads of state are not invited as members of any particular party, but as former heads of state. CBN is a former head of state, as is Bill Clinton, hence its perfectly legal for any organization to not only invite and welcome them, but to remunerate them as might be needed. In no arena is this seen as supporting a particular party. Perhaps you should turn off the Teja/Gemini or what have you and turn on CNN, there is an election going on right here, and guess what? Since you live, work, earn money and raise your family here in the US, that affects your daily existence more than some crazy movie stars half a world away. Obama and Mccain are on tv, tune in there.
