Employment of children below 14 is an offence:This morning the Task Force along with the anti-child labour dept conducted a raid at Srinagar Colony and booked all the people who employed children as servants and domestic help for less than minimum wages. The Reddy’s Foundation along with Pratham joined the team in the recue act and they later took the children to re-hab home. Many more raids will take place in the coming few days.
The govt of AP vide GO Ms No 119 dated 10-12-2007 notified minimum rates of wages payable to the domestic servants.
Cleaning of vessels/washing the clothes/sweeping and mopping floor/baby sitting/ care of old/infirm/kitchen shopping/taking kids to school and other household chores….1/2 hour=163rs, one hour=325 rs, one and half hour=488 rs, 8 hours=2,600 rs.

nice ! Kani, idhi agadu. Ilanti raids anni Bhagyanagramlone jaruguthai. Inka chinna towns lone ee problem rampant anipisthundhi. Maa colony lo aithe pratheee intlo (in mine too, albeit for a slightly different purpose) chinna pillale untaru. Worse, some children come from far away places and hence have to stay at their employer’s house. Our ex-neighbour’s wife used to torture the daylights out of a 7-year old kid. Sadly, nobody could do anything about it, owing to the fear of upsetting the ‘equations’ in office(its like one of those oil company colonies).
herez the sad part: The abuse was never discussed at neither mine nor at any of our frnds’ homes.

Its hard to believe that this problem exists even in rich and educated families. Shame on them! Its outrageous and total BS if they argue that they are actually doing these kids a favor by sheltering them. These people must think about how much they are donating to orphanages which take care of such poor kids.

No need to defame celebrities here.. How many can honestly say, that they have not seen a small girl accompany her mother(maid) and wash your dishes at home.
It is a problem and people should be educated..But not by targeting celebrities and witch hunting..
