There is a govt college named ” Brahmarshi Sir Venkatratnam Naidu Junior College” which is known as Naidu College, situated at Lower Tank Bund Road, Near Vartha Office. The students in the college are children of rickshaw pullers, labourers, and class 1V workers who do not even know what their children are studying. Some of them bring lunch and others who cannot afford stay idle during lunch time. The principal who noticed that those who don’t carry lunch stare at those who are eating. This prompted him and his staff to accumulate funds and begin mid day meals free of cost. Even the cook would work for a very meagre salary. Esvaraiah the principal says they started the meals during lunch hour on one week day and slowly extended it to four days in a week. The cook left recently. There is no guarantee that they can find a similar cook who works to help the poor. To pay his salary, and to see the children are fed during the lunch hours in the remaining two days is their goal.
